01A few words

I’m Laura. I live in Vilnius, Lithuania, and I’m in my third year at Vienožinskis Art School.

It’s a four-year art school, so drawing and painting are real subjects for me, not something I fit in after homework.

I paint things I can see in front of me. A plant on the windowsill, a fish bowl, somebody’s face when they aren’t really posing. Faces are my favourite and also the hardest, because you can get one small thing wrong and it stops looking like them at all.

The rest of my week I’m at the American International School in Vilnius. I also like reading about artists and how they worked.

04Now

Where I am, and what is next

Art school
Vilnius Justinas Vienožinskis Art School, third year out of four. We draw and paint from observation every week.
School
The American International School in Vilnius (AISV).
Working in
Mostly gouache and acrylic. Also pencil, paper and clay.
Looking at
Plants, animals and people. And artists’ life stories, especially the parts before they got good.
Next
A school where art counts as much as the other subjects, and where there’s a studio with other people working in it.
